This is a mockup for the new update of my website, it is still in working progress. If anyone has any constructive criticism or feedback I would much appreciate it.
There are three things, which I think you may want to address Nicolas: 1. The graffiti style logo doesn't fit the the rest of the slick and white design. It looks out of place, as if it was taken from a totally different design. 2. I think the level of bevel that adds a sense of depth could be soften a bit. 3. The RSS logo seems might big ;) I think it could be made smaller
Thanks Amir for the good advice! I use that logo because it is already associated with my name, and all my clients have it in my business cards. But you've got me thinking that maybe with a new website I might want to design a new logo to fit the new style. I'm going to start mocking up some stuff, but I like my logo and it will be hard to say goodbye.
Why not just tone down the black edges a bit, so it doesnt stand out too much? I actually liked it, not as a web person, as I am NOT a web person, but as a potential client, your site looked clean and professional and the logo said "we're clean, but we can do rough too ;)"
I do however agree with Amir about the other two comments.
If you are going for a bit of that street look, you could try and incorporate it in other places as well so the design feels tight and consistent. For example, you can redesign the now famous RSS logo to be a bit graffiti looking as well or create some nice slick white bricks as a faded background at the bottom of the main box. By doing so you can create an interesting new visual. The point is that the element should be linked somehow, visually or conceptually.
Yeah, that's what I want to say, I want to have a balance between corporate work and some more artistic or urban work (record labels, etc.). That idea of redesigning the RSS logo to look like a graffiti is fantastic, it would look really good as a stencil or painted with spray paint. The other idea about the bricks is really good, I'm glad I posted my working progress in Multiply, you guys have been really helpful.
hehe, all shiny and glossy - I'm definitely going to go through your tutorial ; )
Looks good and clean, but to me more than the logo, that's the navigation bar which does not quite fit in.. maybe it's just about using the same rounded edge 'angle', and/or changing the color scheme?
Yeah I was thinking on using a orange screen, but I thought it looked good with blue like a digital screen. One more thing to play around with, ;). Cheers
