I'm doing my seminar presentation for the business module on the "get a mac" marketing campaign, the ones that feature Mitchell & Webb in the UK. I was looking around the internet for some information about the campaign and found this funny You Tube video, I thought I might share it with you guys.

Very funny man...its so blatantly obvious that microsoft has ripped off apple, those differences he pointed out are so ridiculous. The chess example is the funniest...Lol

Oh for sure they did, and thank goodness for that.

But then Apple ripped off Konfabulator widgets, and made their widgets which are now apparently gadgets on PC, and are ripping the multiple desktops off Linux in their next version etc etc. It's just OS evolution. Dog eat dog world, rip off what works (or in an Open Source world, take what works and improve on it, forget competition).

However, look how long it took for Apple to 'rip off' the amazing idea of a three button mouse. I have much venom for Apple even though I have one (and a PC) and a love/hate for Apple's marketing genius.

The video about PC's being for work only....Another example of Apple marketing genius:

Apple, you seem to have forgotten that, behind the PS3, the PC platform is the worlds most powerful and fastest advancing gaming platform.

Alienware for example, produce a gaming PC off the shelf, with waterchilled quad graphics processors, a seperate dedicated AGEIA PhysX game physics processor, 4TB of storage... Come on Apple, does this PC look like a work machine or does it just mean PCs can be all things to all men and an Apple is.. well, limited to being an Apple. Even if I did install windows on an Intel Mac, it still wouldn't work with all this fancy hardware thanks to all Apple's proprietary limiting hardware.

OS X is pretty though ;)

Yes I think all companies take a cue from one another in terms of how they should make their software and hardware better. Its an industrial practice.

If it were the other way around, then Apple would have done the same thing.

And like Matt said, thank goodness for that, because I absolutely love Vista. It works really well.

Who cares if they ripped them off or not Microsoft product users take up more of the market than Mac's anyway!

Yeah Matt I know what you mean, I just thought the video was a laugh. But well i'm not much of a gamer (I like PS2), and I only touch a PC to test websites. OS X is pretty, but I also think that the user experience is amazing. But it is all a question of perspective anyways, and what you use your machine for.

I think Mac has done such an aggresive campaign against the PC because of past boiling grudges. I have nothing against Microsoft, well I do hate Internet Explorer, but I think they do have amazing products such as Visual Basic, which i've never used but sounds really cool. And everyone ripps each other off like Macintosh first did from the Xerox Star, but I do think Apple is a more innovative company than Microsoft.

'tis a funny vid, and I also love the Mac vs PC ones :)

Sorry Bro, any excuse for an anti-Apple rant, as those who know me know I'm always willing to do.

Hope I didn't seem too harsh. I just hope sometimes I'm not the only one not to be taken in by Apple's aggressive marketing. (Ok ok even though I do have an iBook)

They're innovative but make me hella suspicious; look at the iBook power adapter and how they all broke, but Apple charge 50 quid or something for a new one.

Or how DVI is not good enough for Apple, so they 'invent' the ADC connector. Ever tried to get a converter? 60 quid. Plus they scrapped the ADC thing now.

VGA out from iBook, Macbook, and iMac.. all different connectors. Aaaargh.

Innovation is one thing, but making me give money to Apple every time I need an accessory is just annoying.

It's cool man, I hear you. Accessories are really expensive well generally anything in the Mac shop is expensive. My solution: ebay, I've gotten some accesories for Mac on the cheap and in very good condition. Now I want to buy a G5, cause I'm setting up a studio in my house, I've seen some get sold for £500. And you're right Apple should have always used standard connectors to make their machines more compatible.
